Several Zillah businesses will promote themselves at the First Annual Local Business Expo on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Located in downtown Zillah, on First Avenue, between 6th and 7th, the expo, which is sponsored by the Zillah Chamber of Commerce, will include local business booths, local foods and local beverages. People are welcomed to the event so they may learn about available services, receive sample items and hear live music.
As streets will be blocked off, visitors may walk freely to the many booths. They will also have easy access to downtown businesses, many of which are planning to offer special services and sale items. The Flat Possum Pickers will play bluegrass music. Another band is scheduled.
Doug Lakman of Zillah Lakes is one of the organizers for the event, and he is helping to promote it. “We’re trying to bring businesses to one central point where we can incorporate food, spirits and wine, along with food vendors and other businesses, so we can display our services and products to the public,” he said. “We want to further promote Zillah.”
In the week prior to the event, several businesses already signed on to participate. About 25 businesses committed to take part. These included five wineries, one spirit company, one hardware store, one chiropractor, three restaurants. Throughout the night, the beverage companies will make their drinks available. Products will be sold at the Old Furniture Warehouse after the expo is finished downtown.
“It’ll be a lot of fun,” Lakman said. “This will be people’s chance to become acquainted with Zillah business owners.”
